During Săptămâna Altfel, at Școala Gimnazială Pustiana, we created a space where, for a few days, children and parents stepped into a different world — one where simple things became special.
For a week, painting workshops brought children and families together, in a setting where creativity became a way of connecting.
We painted, imagined, and built, step by step, small worlds where Christmas was starting to be felt. A place where colors told stories, and the time spent together mattered more than any final result.
On Christmas Eve, the children carried this experience further and went caroling for the lonely elderly people in the village, bringing joy, attention, and warmth with them.
At the same time, Provident volunteers — Santa's little elves — prepared over 90 gifts for the children and elderly of the community, rounding off this effort with a simple but meaningful gesture.
This project was carried out by Asociația POT SĂ AJUT, with the support of Asociația Provident pentru Educație and Provident România, as part of the Invizibilii program.
Why do initiatives like this matter?

What it was like for participants
For me, the painting workshop was a kind of parent-child therapy. I understood how important such moments are, and the time spent together.

Impact
The project brought together several generations, around simple but valuable activities.
Through these experiences:
- children had access to education through art
- families spent time together
- elderly people in the community felt seen and included
The Christmas Eve caroling turned this project into a collective gesture of care and closeness.
By combining education through art with social involvement activities, the initiative contributed to children's development and supported intergenerational relationships.
Experiences like these have a long-term impact, both on children's confidence and on community cohesion.
