On October 1st, at Pustiana Secondary School, we continued the marathon through the Zile cu Sens – Artă în Mișcare program — an event dedicated to seniors in the community.
The experience in Pustiana was built around painting and time spent together, grandparents and grandchildren.
Preparatory, 1st, and 2nd grade students from Pustiana Secondary School painted alongside their grandparents, on a morning full of creativity, where colors became the common language between generations.
It was a space where age differences no longer mattered, and every shared brush forged a real connection. Local coordinator: Liliana Biliboc, teacher.
An initiative carried out with the support of Asociația Provident pentru Educație and Provident România, as part of the INVIZIBILII program.
Why it matters
One of the greatest distances between generations doesn't come from a lack of desire to communicate, but from a lack of opportunities for people of different ages to meet in a natural setting.
Through activities like those in the Zile cu Sens program, we create such opportunities, where young and old see each other every day but rarely have time to create something together. This way, they:
- share emotions and ideas through color
- discover the world through each other's eyes, through a drawing or a chosen color
- build simple memories that last
Taking part in shared creative activities brings generations closer and builds a sense of belonging to the community.
How it was for participants
I painted a house with grandma and I even gave it a chimney, like ours. She said it looked like her childhood home.

About Artă în Mișcare
The event in Pustiana (Bacău) is part of the marathon organized for the International Day of Older Persons, held simultaneously in 6 counties across Romania: Alba, Timiș, Ilfov, Prahova, Sibiu, and Bacău.
The Artă în Mișcare concept brings together different forms of expression — dance, theatre, music, painting — as tools through which seniors can stay active and connected.
Nationwide, more than 750 participants took part in activities built around art and social interaction.
Impact
The Zile cu Sens program creates contexts where people feel seen, heard, and appreciated.
Through intergenerational meetings, participants:
- share their experiences
- develop openness toward others
- build authentic relationships
- connect with both their family and the community they belong to
- rediscover the joy of creating together
These programs contribute to a more connected, more balanced community.
