Project details

  • Date: May 27, 2026
  • Location: Golescu Grant Manor Recreation and Personal Development Center, Bucharest

On May 27, 2026, at Centrul de Recreere și Dezvoltare Personală „Conacul Golescu Grant” in Bucharest, we organized a new edition of Zile cu Sens, an event dedicated to seniors and to building real contexts for connection through dance, movement, and human interaction.

More than 100 seniors, together with 30 young volunteers, took part in an experience built around the joy of being together and the feeling that no one should feel alone. Organized by Asociația POT SĂ AJUT in partnership with DGASPC Sector 6, the event brought together seniors, volunteers, and community members in a space where dance became an occasion for closeness, emotion, and reconnection between generations.

Zile cu Sens is a program dedicated to pensioners in Romania, promoting active aging and social participation through recreational, educational, and cultural activities.

An initiative carried out with the support of Asociația Provident pentru Educație and Provident România, as part of the INVIZIBILII program.

Active aging and social connection for seniors

In Romania, many seniors face social isolation, emotional difficulties, and a lack of contexts in which to feel part of the community, even though social relationships and recreational activities play an essential role in maintaining well-being and emotional health.

Zile cu Sens takes a different approach: instead of formal activities, it creates experiences based on presence, interaction, and the joy of doing things together.

Through dance, movement, and interactive activities, seniors had the chance to socialize, reconnect with others, and rediscover their sense of belonging to the community. The event showed that simple gestures — a conversation, a hug, or a dance — can have a profound impact on a person's emotional state.

Teddy, ambassador of good deeds

Teddy (Toader Păun)

MC and ambassador of good deeds, Teddy (Toader Păun) chose to stay close to vulnerable communities and turn time spent together into moments that matter. A man in search of people, experiences and places #DeMilioane, Teddy stands by us as we do #WeCareTogether for seniors and single-parent families.

Teddy, thank you for your friendship, your support, and for carrying our story of good forward!

What was the event like?

The garden at Conacul Golescu Grant turned into a space where music, dance, and interaction between participants created a warm, relaxed atmosphere. Seniors danced, socialized, and spent time with volunteers and special guests.

The activities were designed to encourage socializing, movement, and the active participation of the elderly:

  • dance lessons and interactive moments led by Wilmark and Sandra Lupu
  • socializing and movement activities meant to promote active aging and well-being
  • moments of connection between seniors and volunteers, in a relaxed and friendly setting
  • two big group hugs, with Toader Păun and Wilmark

For many participants, this gathering was a moment when they felt seen, heard, and part of a community that offers them genuine attention and presence.

„Zile cu Sens is one of the most beloved events I take part in. Together with our partners and organizers, we managed to create something magical. We feel like we're doing something that truly matters! I genuinely feel that I, too, can help!", said Wilmark, choreographer at Wilmark Dance Academy.

He had a surprise for participants — he came along with Sandra Lupu, Romania's Solo Salsa champion, and together they danced with the seniors.

How it was for participants

Honestly, at first I was nervous and didn't think I'd manage, that I'd still be able to dance. Then I saw what it was like and felt only joy. It was like I got a few hours younger!

George, 74, participant

Congratulations, wonderful people, it was a day full of magic, dance, and cheer!

Ioana, 65, participant

Why do activities dedicated to seniors matter?

Taking part in social and recreational activities significantly helps reduce social isolation and improve the emotional well-being of older people.

Through programs like this, seniors benefit from:

  • opportunities to socialize with the community
  • movement and dance activities that support well-being
  • experiences that boost confidence and a sense of belonging
  • intergenerational gatherings built on empathy and mutual respect
  • contexts in which they feel heard, appreciated, and socially included.

Impact

The Bucharest edition brought together more than 100 seniors and 30 volunteers, showing the community's interest in activities that promote active aging and reduce social isolation. Through dance, interaction, and activities carried out together with volunteers, the event helped reduce feelings of isolation and build relationships based on closeness, empathy, and presence between generations.

In this context, #FapteBuneÎmpreună was present in every gesture, every smile, and every dance moment shared between participants.

The gathering at Conacul Golescu Grant showed that well-being is built through simple but genuine experiences, in which people give each other their time, listen, and enjoy being together.

Zile cu Sens continues to bring people, communities, and different generations closer together through activities that turn presence, dance, and dialogue into real tools for social connection.

We continue

The program continues in several communities across Romania, promoting active aging, social participation, and connections between generations. For information about upcoming events dedicated to seniors, follow Asociația POT SĂ AJUT's Facebook page.
