Project details

  • Date: June 2, 2026
  • Location: Merlin Children's and Youth Theatre, Timișoara

On June 2, 2026, Asociația POT SĂ AJUT organized a new edition of the Împreună în Timp program in Timișoara, dedicated to children's access to culture and education through art. For International Children's Day, 165 students from Școala Gimnazială nr. 13 in Timișoara took part in a cultural activity held at Teatrul pentru Copii și Tineret „Merlin", where they discovered the emotion of live theatre and the world of stories brought to life on stage.

The children, accompanied by their teachers, watched „Doi Purceluși sau Cei Șapte Ani de Acasă”, a puppet theatre production combining acting, puppets, music, and humor to convey essential messages about responsibility, choices, and the consequences of actions.

Teatrul pentru Copii și Tineret „Merlin” and Consiliul Județean Timiș, our mobility partners, provided transportation for the children to the show and made this gathering possible, coordinated locally by Ana-Maria Bocșan, a teacher actively involved in creating educational and cultural opportunities for children.

An initiative carried out with the support of Asociația Provident pentru Educație and Provident România, as part of the INVIZIBILII program.

Beneficiaries: 165 children from single-parent families

Why it matters

In a context where children interact more and more with digital media, direct contact with the theatre stage remains a valuable experience for their emotional and cognitive development.

Puppet theatre offers an accessible language in which the story, characters, and music help build empathy, attention, and the ability to understand different perspectives. Cultural experiences like this support education beyond the classroom and turn learning into something lived, not just taught.

The children watched the play „Doi Purceluși sau Cei Șapte Ani de Acasă”, a theatre production that conveys essential values in an accessible way, such as:

  • responsibility
  • courage
  • the consequences of one's own choices
  • respect for others.

Theatre, culture, and education through art

This encounter with the stage turned a cultural activity into a moment of learning through play, attention, and imagination. In this setting, the children discovered how stories can become a way of understanding the world and their relationships with others, in a format accessible and suited to their age.

Access to cultural activities plays an important role in children's healthy, harmonious development, because it:

  • stimulates imagination and creativity
  • develops empathy and emotional intelligence
  • improves comprehension and concentration skills
  • encourages learning through direct experience
  • creates a healthy relationship with art and culture

Through the Împreună în Timp program, children have the chance to discover culture in a way that is vivid, interactive, and suited to their age.

What it was like for participants

Another bridge across time, another special chance for the students of our school, offered by Asociația POT SĂ AJUT, such warm-hearted people! Thank you for being there!

Ana-Maria Bocșan, teacher and activity coordinator

What I liked most was when the characters made decisions, and I realized that we too make choices that matter in everyday life. It made me think about things I hadn't thought about before. I'd like to go to the theatre more often.

Impact

The Timișoara edition brought together 165 children in an authentic cultural space, where education was conveyed through performance, emotion, and direct contact with the performing arts.

Through puppet theatre, music, and humor, the story helped children understand that every decision has an impact and that learning is built through emotion and interaction.

The event highlighted the essential role of education through art in shaping younger generations and the importance of access to relevant cultural activities.

We continue

The Împreună în Timp program continues in more cities across Romania through activities dedicated to single-parent families, promoting education through art, quality time spent together, and the development of healthier family relationships.
